Downsizing? Offer it to family and friends first
When you're moving to a smaller place, or clearing out a parent's home, most things have a story. A private sale lets the people who'll appreciate them have first pick, with a simple, fair way to decide who gets what.
How it works
Upload your photos
Snap everything you're getting rid of and upload it all at once from your phone. Our AI groups photos of the same thing, names each item, writes a short description and suggests a starting price from what similar things sell for used.
Share one link
Check the details, change anything you like, then send the link to friends, family, neighbors or a group chat. Add a password if you want it extra private.
Friends bid, you hand off
Friends sign in with just their email (no account to create) and bid. Everyone sees the top bid; outbid friends get an email. When bidding closes, winners get your email to arrange pickup and payment.
Why a private sale works well for families
- Fair and transparent: everyone sees the top bid, and the highest bid when time runs out wins. No one has to argue for an item.
- Starting prices can be as low as you like, even $1, if the goal is finding good homes rather than making money.
- Everyone can take part from anywhere: relatives across the country bid from their phones.
- Photos and descriptions help everyone remember what's there without walking through the house.
- Afterwards you get one summary of who's taking what, which makes planning pickups and shipping much easier.
Good to know
FriendsSale doesn't handle money or shipping. Winners get your email address when bidding closes, and you sort out payment and pickup together. For very valuable items (jewelry, art, antiques), consider getting an appraisal before you set a starting price.
